How can schools ensure that teachers feel confident and well prepared for new curriculum content and expectations?

This course supports primary teachers, English subject leaders and senior leaders in developing the subject knowledge needed to implement the revised curriculum with confidence. Explore how strong subject knowledge in areas such as grammar, sentence structure, vocabulary and composition can strengthen teaching, improve pupil outcomes and support effective curriculum implementation.

Course aims:

  • Explore emerging curriculum developments and their implications for English subject knowledge

  • Develop teacher confidence in key areas of English, including grammar, sentence structure, punctuation and language development

  • Consider how secure subject knowledge supports effective teaching, modelling and assessment

  • Explore practical approaches to translating curriculum expectations into classroom practice

  • Strengthen leader confidence in supporting staff development and implementing curriculum change across the school
