This short course will ensure that all staff are fully prepared to deliver their summer term unit for maximum pupil impact.
By the end of the course, participants will:
Have a clear understanding of how to use and adapt units of work confidently in the classroom for vulnerable groups
Be clear on ways to make the most of sentence accuracy, to honour the writing framework and support a diverse range of learners
Identify where and how foundational knowledge is explicitly taught, revisited, and secured
Understand how executive function is supported across the unit, including planning, organising ideas, sustaining focus, and self-monitoring
Recognise how reading, discussion, and knowledge-building feed directly into writing tasks
Explore how the unit scaffolds pupils from shared understanding to increasingly independent writing
