Award-Winning Across All Key Stages: Ready Steady Write Triumphs Again

We are delighted to share that Ready Steady Write has been named a winner at the Teach Early Years Awards 2025. This latest achievement follows our success at the Teach Primary Awards 2023, marking a rare and special moment of recognition across both Early Years and Primary phases.

These two national awards celebrate the same trusted resource, proving that Ready Steady Write is the consistently award-winning primary writing scheme for multi-academy trusts and individual schools alike. Whether in small mixed-age schools, large settings or those with high proportions of SEND and EAL learners, Ready Steady Write continues to raise writing outcomes for all.

Testament to Quality and Impact

The 2025 Teach Early Years judges praised the resource’s accessibility and comprehensive design, stating:

“We loved this! The price is good and there’s plenty of resources and information to access. There are clear plans and guides for lessons, with step-by-step stages for the sequencing. It’s good for children with EAL or SEND.”

The judging was led by Dr June O’Sullivan MBE, a renowned leader in Early Years education and social impact. Dr June’s work has transformed understanding of high-quality early education, and we are deeply proud to have our resource recognised by such a respected figure in the sector.

This award builds on our earlier success at the Teach Primary Awards 2023, where Rebecca Simpson-Hargreaves, Senior Lecturer in Education at the University of Manchester and UKLA Awards Committee Member, described Ready Steady Write as:

“An excellent, user-friendly and comprehensive platform that is long-lasting and rich... Each unit has quality children’s literature embedded within it; they are inclusive and could be found in most classrooms. The programme includes dedicated segments for narrative or non-fiction outcomes; all centred around the importance of talk, which ensures rich writing and deeper learning.”

Together, these two awards confirm Ready Steady Write’s exceptional quality from EYFS to Year 6, a true whole-school solution.

Proven Impact in Classrooms Nationwide

The success of Ready Steady Write is best reflected in the experiences of the schools that use it.

Sandbrook Primary School, Rochdale:

“The impact of Ready Steady Write has been swift and significant. After only two terms of using the scheme, we have already seen tangible and impressive results in our end-of-key-stage data. There has been a noticeable reduction in workload and an incredible boost in confidence.”

Banks Road Primary School, Liverpool:

“The music, lyrics and actions make the Story Songs perfect for our EAL children and reluctant speakers. It’s wonderful to show that inclusivity in the classroom.”

EYFS Sisters, Feniscowles Primary School, Blackburn:

“Despite being our youngest writers, the children understand the Ready Steady Write routine. They know what’s coming next and they’re thriving within that structure. Thanks to Ready Steady Write’s repetition and daily structure, our lowest 20% are making the progress we wanted. Ready Steady Write doesn’t restrict us, it supports us.”

Stockton Wood Primary School, Liverpool:

“Ready Steady Write is something that you can take and make so much bigger, it feeds into all aspects of our curriculum.”

Liscard Primary School, Wirral:

“The Story Songs are brilliant; the children really love them! They love engaging with the story and using rhythm and repetition to learn.”
