Planning, Writing & Editing

Primary writing training – develop confident writers through clear approaches to planning, sentence fluency and purposeful editing from Early Years to Year 6

Audience: SLT, English Subject Lead & Writing Lead

What if a consistent approach to teaching planning, writing and editing, from Early Years to Year 6, could unlock confident, capable writers and raise writing outcomes across your school?

This professional development course will allow practitioners to:

  • Explore a consistent, whole-school approach to explicitly teach each stage of the writing process: planning, drafting, and editing from Early Years through to Year 6

  • Explore age-appropriate strategies for helping pupils generate, organise, and structure ideas during the planning phase (oral rehearsal for sentence construction, etc)

  • Develop clear, step-by-step approaches to teaching editing and revising

  • Create a classroom environment that supports the writing process - building fluency, stamina, skill, and pride in writing

Very informative and focused. We couldn’t ask for a better delivery. I always come away feeling positive after a Literacy Counts session.
